What is HP-ET?

HP-ET is a HRSA initiative designed to strengthen health centers' ability to train the next generation of health professionals through structured clinical training at health center sites. Health centers participating in HP-ET partner with accredited educational institutions to offer supervised placements, preceptorships, and graduate medical education experiences.

Training programs can span a wide range of disciplines — medicine, nursing, dentistry and dental hygiene, behavioral health and social work, pharmacy, and medical assisting and other allied health fields.

Trainees gain real-world experience in community-based settings, and health centers build relationships with prospective future staff. Research consistently shows that where providers train is one of the strongest predictors of where they go on to practice long-term.

How HPCA Supports Health Centers
