Position: Community Health Intern--Part Time, 16 hours/week

Primary Responsibilities:  

The Community Health Intern will support the Hawai‘i Primary Care Association’s (HPCA) training and technical assistance (TTA) work to strengthen care delivery and improve health outcomes across Hawai‘i’s community health centers (CHCs). The intern will help plan and coordinate learning activities, develop educational materials, and assist with communications and outreach that promote high-quality, person-centered care. Focus areas may include maternal health, care for older adults, and Food Is Medicine initiatives. Working closely with HPCA program leads, the intern will support meetings, learning sessions, and projects that enhance CHC capacity for team-based, community-informed care. 

 

Position Duties: 

  1. Supports the planning and coordination of HPCA’s training sessions, learning collaboratives, and stakeholder meetings, including scheduling, logistics, and note taking. 

  2. Prepares meeting and training materials such as agendas, slide decks, participant packets, and post-event summaries. 

  3. Assists with planning calls and coordination between HPCA staff, consultants, subject matter experts, and health center teams. 

  4. Contributes to resource and content development, including drafting handouts, summarizing best practices, and uploading materials to HPCA’s Learning Management System (LMS). 

  5. Supports communications and outreach, including drafting email announcements, creating visual materials for presentations or flyers, and maintaining participant contact lists. 

  6. Conducts brief literature or environmental scans to identify promising practices and tools relevant to current TTA topics. 

  7. Assists with data organization and summary reports to document lessons learned and highlight CHC accomplishments. 

  8. Participates in project meetings and webinars, summarizing key points, tracking follow-up items, and supporting documentation. 

  9. Collaborates with HPCA’s Training and Technical Assistance team to ensure consistency across initiatives and support emerging program needs. 

  10. Represents HPCA professionally and respectfully in all interactions. 

  11. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
