Senator Daniel Inouye announced major funding for Community Health Center programs as part of an omnibus labor, education, and health/human services measure that cleared the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee late last week.

Nearly $40 million was approved for a number of health and human service organizations throughout Hawai'i, including seven community health centers and the Hawai'i Primary Care Association.

Over $37 million will be directed toward emergency medical services for children and for Native Hawaiian health care, with approximately $3 million supporting health center programs and expansion, technical assistance development at the Hawai'i Primary Care Association, and various hospital initiatives on Maui and Oahu.
