$42 million in cuts by the State Department of Human Services (DHS) will eliminate the existing medical coverage for nearly 8000 residents. The new coverage proposed by DHS will shift the cost burden onto Community Health Centers and hospitals at a time when they are already coping with significant financial difficulties and severely curtail needed services for COFA migrants.
