Membership in HPCA provides a full complement of benefits and services including:
HPCA actively represents its diverse membership in policy-making and regulatory forums in Honolulu and Washington. Our affiliated Hawaii Covering Kids program is a valuable resource for solving problems associated with enrollment in public health insurance and ensuring members have well-informed out-stationed eligibility workers assisting clients.
Members and partners are encouraged to attend the annual Hawaii Primary Care Association conference. This event brings together more than 150 community health center board members, CE Os, CFOs, COOs, Clinical Directors, CHC staff, state government professionals, advocates, and legislators from every island to highlight the unique challenges and public health issues affecting community health centers and their populations. By gathering these principal stakeholders, the conference creates timely opportunities for common strategic planning, policy updates, networking, training, and technical assistance.
HPCA is committed to providing members with the training and technical assistance they need to provide excellent, accessible, comprehensive services and maintain financially and administratively healthy organizations.
HPCA has also developed a certificate-level program for community health worker training, offers clinical supervisory skills training, and is developing an advanced level program for Native Hawaiian leadership in community health care.
HPCA provides training and technical assistance for telehealth, office information technology, and electronic health records systems. We have expertise in legal and organizational aspects of provider information sharing that is unique in Hawaii.
Through HPCA, members have access to multiple professional forums providing networking and educational opportunities for clinic and administrative managers and professionals including clinicians, CFOs, HR directors, behavioral health providers, information officers, and even health center board members.
HPCA dedicates staff resources and works closely with its members to enhance the quality of clinic care and services and to reduce documented health disparities among the vulnerable populations served by community health centers. Some activities include technical assistance and workshops, an on-going focus at board and subgroup levels on aspects of quality improvement and outcome measures, and networking state Dept. of Health expertise with health center efforts. HPCA is an active partner with HRSA and the Pacific West Cluster managed by the California PCA in supporting the community health center quality improvement initiative and health disparities collaboratives.
HPCA’s Medicine Bank program makes available donated pharmaceutical products to community health centers and also provides technical assistance on the 340B program.
HPCA serves as a master contractor and conduit of funds to members to pay for services for immigrants and to support outreach workers who help enroll clients in public benefit programs.
As a liaison to the media, policy-makers, and funders, HPCA helps members tell their stories about underserved communities and the incomparable work of community health centers.
