CHC Board Member Resources

The Important Role of the CHC Board

Community Health Center boards help make their communities stronger, healthier, and more sustainable, primarily because a majority of the members are actual users of the health center's services. This also makes the center more responsive to the unique needs of each community. After all, what works for a health center in rural Kaua'i may not necessarily be what's needed for a health center in urban Honolulu.

To help the growth and development of health center boards, the Hawai'i Primary Care Association regularly provides forums for shared technical assistance (such as our Annual Conference), as well as networking opportunities through periodic 'peer group' meetings. HPCA's advocacy staff can also visit with health center boards to provide an essential orientation to the legislative process and the important role that health center boards should play.

If you are a member of a health center board, it's vital that you stay in touch with us. Sign up for our regular email list so that all the latest information about what HPCA is doing on your behalf, as well as updates on technical assistance opportunities, can be sent directly to you. You can find our listserv sign up here.
